Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent and was a fan of tough athletic games. The passion for sports was matched by the natural ability to perform. It was evident by her receiving nearly every Feis award for drama and theatrical performing her country offered. Her acceptance was at the Abbey Theater by age 14, where she was able to pursue her dream of opera and classical theater. It was this path that would be modified when Charles Laughton, after seeing a screen test of Maureen and was mesmerized by her gorgeous eyes. Before casting her to star in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton along with his co-star, Erich Pommer, changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - - a more concise name for the marquee. In contract with Laughton her next movie was set to be shot on location in America (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1939)) at RKO Pictures. Maureen was able to purchase her contract from Laughton after the epic was an enormous success. Maureen was just 19 years old when she appeared alongside Laughton in two of her films.
